Six ways into this guide
Pick the question you actually have. Each card goes straight to the answer, not back to the top. If you’re booking a tour yourself, our comparison of Shore Excursions Group and Viator covers which of the two suits which kind of port day, and when the ship’s own tour still wins.
Who sails from here
Carnival Spirit for the season through April 2027, then Carnival Valor all year. American Cruise Lines only visits.

Every Mobile cruise leaves from one building. Its own site, shipmobile.com, calls it the Alabama Cruise Terminal, and the City of Mobile puts “Mobile” on the front. It sits at 201 S. Water Street, on the river downtown. The City runs it as one of its departments, not through a port authority.
The City describes a two-story, 66,000-square-foot terminal with a 500-space parking deck, six covered pick-up and drop-off lanes and a circulation tower with four elevators. It sits about half a mile from I-10 and about 6 miles from the I-65/I-10 junction. The latest upgrade the City mentions is a new gangway — announced in its 2025 release.
Most people drive here. The City says as much — “Mobile has a successful drive market for Carnival, routinely drawing passengers from across the Southeast.” Carnival has twice named it Port of the Year, per a 2022 City release.
Cruise lines sailing from here
Ships and seasons move around more than the building does — so the sailing details sit in one dated block, each with its source.
Carnival Cruise Line is Mobile’s only homeport line. Carnival Spirit has sailed from here six months a year since 2023, per the City of Mobile. This season runs October 2026 to April 2027, per Cruise Industry News. Visit Mobile lists her on 6-, 7-, 8-, 14- and 16-day itineraries. Carnival’s own titles run from a 5-day Western Caribbean to a 14-day Southern Caribbean, and its pages have Spirit leaving at 3:30 PM.
Carnival Valor makes it year-round from May 15, 2027, per Cruise Industry News and CruiseHive. Carnival’s Christine Duffy called it “the return of year-round deployment with our first-ever Conquest-class ship serving the market.” CruiseHive puts Valor at 110,000 gross tons and 2,980 passengers. Cruise Industry News lists six- to eight-day Bahamas sailings to Celebration Key and RelaxAway, two 14-day trips and a Thanksgiving week. Visit Mobile shows 6-, 7-, 8- and 14-day sailings. The ship names don’t all agree — one Visit Mobile article on the year-round return still says Carnival Spirit, and the City’s April 2025 announcement said the ship hadn’t been named.
Year-round isn’t new here. Carnival’s own word for 2027 is “return.” The City says Carnival Ecstasy brought cruising back in March 2022 after the pandemic pause. Spirit has run six-month seasons since 2023.
American Cruise Lines isn’t a Mobile departure. American Symphony’s 8-day Gulf Coast cruises run from New Orleans to Pensacola — Mobile is a stop, and the City says the 2026 cruises call four times, docking behind the National Maritime Museum.

Where you can go: the Bahamas, Key West and the Caribbean
Every card below opens our page for that port, with its shore-excursion guide underneath. The short sailings stay in the Western Caribbean — the Bahamas run a week, and the Southern Caribbean and Panama take 12 days or more.
Common, not guaranteed. The stops on any sailing depend on the ship and the season. Check your own itinerary before you plan a port day around this list.

The cruise terminal
Alabama Cruise Terminal, 201 S. Water Street, Mobile, Alabama 36602, per the City of Mobile.
Visit Mobile’s listing gives the address as One South Water Street. Same building, same riverfront — use 201 for your map app, since that’s the City’s own.
The terminal’s phone is 251-338-7447 — the City’s listing.
Arriving, and the drop-off
The City lists six covered pick-up and drop-off lanes — drop the bags there first. The parking deck is part of the same complex, so the walk from the car is short.
Your check-in time, ID rules and the carry-on list come from Carnival, in your boarding documents. The terminal’s pages we could read don’t spell them out.
CruiseHive notes there aren’t any full-service restaurants or large shops inside — so eat before you come.
Coming home
Carnival Spirit’s itinerary pages list an 8:00 AM arrival back in Mobile — you’re off once the ship is cleared.
Whoever’s collecting you uses the same covered lanes. If you parked in the deck, you walk to the car, not to a shuttle stop.

Parking, in short
The terminal has its own 500-space parking deck, and the terminal’s site sells prepaid parking through Premium Parking. What it costs depends on who you read. Visit Mobile says covered spots are $23 a day, and CruiseHive says $21, with oversized vehicles at $42 or $63.
An older $18 figure from Cruzely predates the prepay system. The prepay page didn’t show a price when we read it, so treat both numbers as a guide, not a quote.

Flying into MOB, and then Brookley
Airline flights use Mobile Regional (MOB) for now, about 13 miles west of the city per Wikipedia. CruiseHive puts it 25 to 35 minutes from the terminal. Our own routing gives about 15 road miles from the terminal to MOB, and nearer 18 coming the other way.
Brookley is next. The airlines are due to move to Mobile International there, about 4.7 road miles from the terminal by our routing. The date has slipped once already — the airport authority said fall 2026 back in July 2025. Its Build BFM site now says spring 2027, and Business View reported in August 2026 that late spring is the goal. Book the airport your ticket names.
For a cab, the airport names one company, Modern Transport, on 251-265-1029, and prints no fares. A taxi or rideshare runs $25 to $35, by CruiseHive’s estimate. Rideshares meet at the southwest corner of the main terminal, per the airport authority — Uber’s page says Terminal Drive on the arrivals level.
Seven rental companies have desks at MOB — Alamo to National, per the airport authority. Keep the rental and it sits in the terminal deck, on the meter, while you sail.
We found no bus to the airport and no shuttle company with a published fare to the terminal, and Carnival’s airport-transfer page names no Mobile price.
Two other airports work if the fare is right. CruiseHive puts Pensacola (PNS) over 60 miles and an hour or more away — our routing gives about 59 road miles. Gulfport-Biloxi (GPT) is about 73 by the same routing.
By train, bus or car
Amtrak’s Mardi Gras Service has run between New Orleans and Mobile since August 18, 2025, two round trips a day with stops on the Mississippi coast. Coach fares started at $15 at launch, per WLOX. Trains stop at a platform at 101 S. Water Street, about 400 yards from the cruise terminal per Visit Mobile. The bureau pitches the train as a way to leave the car at home — no deck fee at all.
The Wave Transit charges $1.25 a ride, or $3.00 for a day pass. Downtown, the moda! trolley runs weekdays from 7 AM to 3 PM; the Wave says $0.50, the Downtown Mobile Alliance says free.
Driving, the City puts the terminal about half a mile from I-10 and about 6 miles from the I-65/I-10 junction.
Distances and fares come from the City of Mobile, the Mobile Airport Authority and its Build BFM site, Visit Mobile, the Wave and WLOX’s Amtrak reporting, rechecked October 3, 2026. Third-party figures are named as such, and our own routing is labelled as ours. Review periodically
The day before
Downtown is walkable, by Visit Mobile’s account — its train article counts more than 50 local restaurants, with the Exploreum, the History Museum of Mobile and the Mobile Carnival Museum close by. The USS Alabama battleship is about a 10-minute rideshare away, by the same article.
Carnival Spirit passengers get discounts at area attractions by showing their boarding passes, per Visit Mobile. Carnival’s own Mobile page sells the city on age, “charming visitors since 1702”. It sells the food too — restaurants, bars, breweries and galleries, most locally owned.
