SAVOY hotel Piraeus
A business hotel on Iroon Polytechniou that calls the cruise docks walking distance, with free parking on request and a port transfer you can book.
Pre-Cruise Hotels · Piraeus
Sixteen hotels for a Piraeus cruise, from the streets behind the gates to central Athens and the airport, scored on what gets you to the ship, not on reviews. Sixteen is all that qualified — we say why below.
Three taps and we’ll show your best three hotels.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. Nobody pays to be here.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, beach, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the ship, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the port or the company publishes. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
Partner links (transfers, rental cars) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
Savoy Piraeus takes first on two things its own site says: the cruise docks are walking distance, and every room includes breakfast. Piraeus City Hotel is the only hotel that prices a ride to the ship, a €8–10 (about US$9–11) car, and The Alex is third. No hotel sells a way to leave the car.
Narrow the sixteen by what your night needs. Save the ones you like. Tick up to three to compare side by side — the order is ours, the shortlist is yours.
Why sixteen, not twenty? We checked 23 hotels from the Piraeus waterfront to central Athens and the airport, and sixteen were open and published enough to score. Several small Piraeus hotels exist only as undated directory listings, so they're in the not-ranked list, each with the reason.
Add your sail date and the links open on the night before.

On Monastiraki Square with the 360 rooftop bar and quadruple family rooms, next to the Line 1 station for Piraeus.
A 3-star superior by Monastiraki with a rooftop bar until midnight, an early breakfast for sail day and family rooms of two connecting rooms.
A 2-minute walk from the terminal at ATH, with an indoor pool and a spa — the night after a long flight, about 31 road miles from the ship.

Pick how you’re arriving. The board counts what each hotel publishes, the table lights up that column, and the companies below run from the airport to the port.
Athens International · about 31 road miles to the Terminal A street point, our routing; Holland America says 20 miles (32 km), about 60 minutes
Line 3 runs from the airport through Piraeus to Dimotiko Theatro, one stop further, in about 63 minutes end to end, per STASY; the airport says about 60 minutes to Piraeus. Airport trains run every 36 minutes, the first from the airport at 06:10 and the last at 23:34. Sunday to Thursday, though, night works on Line 3 mean the last airport train through to Piraeus leaves at 21:10, per STASY's notice of September 16, 2026; later trains stop at Syntagma, so take the X96 or a taxi instead. From Piraeus station our routing gives about 1.1 miles to the Terminal A street point, so take a taxi for the last stretch.
The X96 runs between the airport and Piraeus around the clock, about 90 minutes, per OASA. OASA names its end the Port of Piraeus, along Posidonos Avenue with a link to metro Line 1, and athensguide.com puts it at Karaiskaki Square, on the ferry side. From there it's a taxi to Gate E11 or E12.
The airport's fixed fares, €50 (about US$55) from 5 am to midnight and €65 (about US$75) overnight since a September 2026 rise, cover the city centre only, not Piraeus, so the meter runs. Holland America estimates €60. Taxis wait at Exit 3 of Arrivals; Uber at the airport sends licensed taxis, from opposite Exit 4, and Freenow also operates in Greece.
Holland America sells an Athens and Acropolis tour with an airport pick-up and transfer to the ship, from US$134 a person, for flights landing before 10 am. Viking includes transfers when you buy air through Viking. We found no public airport-to-ship price for Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Princess, Costa or Celestyal.
Viator lists an airport-to-Piraeus private transfer with meet and greet from US$43.58 a person, run by Keytours — a reseller's listing, so read the terms before you book.
Driving? The column to watch is “While you sail”. Compare hotel parking with the options on Piraeus cruise parking, or price it out in the parking math below.

These sixteen are ranked for an easy sail morning, not for the room. The splurges are in Athens and on the coast: the Four Seasons Astir Palace at Vouliagmeni holds Three MICHELIN Keys, and Hotel Grande Bretagne and THE DOLLI hold Two, about 7.5 to 7.6 road miles from Terminal A by our routing. In Piraeus itself, Theoxenia is the five-star — with its rooftop pool shut for 2026.
Every distance here ends at a street point, not a building: Akti Miaouli for Terminal A, and Akti Xaveriou, where the X80 bus starts at the cruise terminal, for B and C, whose true spot on the breakwater we couldn't pin. They're road miles by our routing, not straight lines, so treat them as approximate.
Seven of the sixteen are in Piraeus by the port, one up in Kastella, one on the Faliro coast, six in central Athens and one at the airport. The outer bands aren’t filler: plenty of cruisers want an evening at the Acropolis, and Line 1 runs from Monastiraki to Piraeus.
Numbers are the ranking. Each pin sits where the hotel is — the bands group them by distance, the way we score it.
Five things make a Piraeus night before easy or hard. We score each one only from what the hotel publishes on its own site or its brand’s — or, for one hotel whose site wouldn’t load, its booking listing, labelled as such.
Anything a hotel leaves unsaid earns nothing. Directories, blogs and other people’s listings don’t count, so a free shuttle only a third party mentions is information, not points. A distance to the ferry gates isn’t a distance to the cruise terminals, so it doesn’t count as a walk.
By band, from the cruise terminals: Piraeus by the port 30; Kastella 25; the Faliro coast 20; central Athens 15; the airport 10.
A ride the hotel runs or books at a published price, 25 — Piraeus City Hotel’s €8–10 car is the one. A ride only inside a package 20. A port transfer the hotel lists without a fare 15. The hotel says you can walk to the cruise docks, or prints half a mile or less, 15. A ride through a named partner 10.
Published rate to leave the car 20. Offered, price unpublished 14. None of the sixteen scores here.
A breakfast the hotel says is included scores 10. Two do: the Savoy on its homepage and ibis Styles Athens Routes through Accor. Novotel’s and Sofitel’s depend on the rate.
Beach access 6, a pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen in the room 3. Piraeus Theoxenia’s rooftop pool is closed for 2026, so it doesn’t count.
Ties are broken in order: the lower published parking rate, any stated way to the ship, free breakfast, parking on site, the shorter road distance, the lower guest parking price, then the alphabet. Three hotels finish on 33: Piraeus Theoxenia’s own garage puts it ahead of Mitsis N’U and The Port Square, which print no parking, and Mitsis is the shorter drive of those two. On 30, Phidias’s car park, per its listing, puts it ahead of Piraeus Port Hotel. On 18, three central Athens hotels split on road distance: A for Athens and 360 Degrees sit a few metres apart on our routing, with Plaka Hotel just behind.
What’s left out is deliberate. Room rates change daily, so they aren’t scored, and neither are review scores.
Greece adds a climate resilience fee per room per night, set by star category. Each hotel page prints the amount for its category where the category is published.
None of the sixteen sells a way to leave the car while you sail. Most cruisers here fly in, so parking is the smaller question — but here’s what’s known.
At the pier. “There is no public parking at the pier,” per Holland America.
At the hotels. Nightly parking only: free on request at the Savoy, €16 a day at Electra Palace, €12 a night valet at Phidias per its listing, and charged without a price at Piraeus Theoxenia’s garage. None mentions the length of a cruise.
A cruise package. POLISPARK’s Agios Nikolaos lot is the one cruise-specific offer we know of: €35 (about US$40) for 3 days and €60 for 7, as our live parking page recorded it in September 2026. When we re-checked on October 3, its site wouldn’t show prices, so confirm before you drive.
A reseller’s help page, Planet Cruise, says private lots on Akti Miaouli start at €20 (about US$20) a day. It’s undated, so treat it as a hint, not a rate.
| Option | Price | How sure |
|---|---|---|
| POLISPARK, Agios Nikolaos | €35 for 3 days; €60 for 7 | Its own page, Sept 2026; prices didn’t show on Oct 3 |
| Private lots on Akti Miaouli | From €20 a day | An undated reseller help page |
| At the pier | None | Holland America: no public parking |
Every option side by side: Piraeus cruise parking, compared.
We checked 23 hotels. These eight aren’t ranked, each for the reason given. The splurges, from Hotel Grande Bretagne to the Four Seasons at Vouliagmeni, are on the splurge list.
| Hotel | Why it isn’t ranked |
|---|---|
| Electra Rhythm Athens | Electra's page prints Ermou Street with no number or postcode, so we couldn't pin it to measure the drive, and the Booking.com match we saw may be its former name. |
| Triton Hotel, Piraeus | Known to us only from greeka.com's directory, undated, with no address; we found no site of its own to confirm it's open. |
| Piraeus Premium Suites | A greeka.com listing only, with no address or site of its own. |
| Lilia Hotel, Piraeus | A greeka.com and athensguide.com listing only, undated, no site of its own. |
| Anemoni Hotel, Piraeus | A greeka.com listing only, no address or site of its own. |
| Ideal Hotel, Piraeus | A greeka.com listing only; its "100 m" is to the ferry harbour. |
| Faros 2, Piraeus | A greeka.com listing only; breakfast is served at its sister Faros 1. |
| Mercure Piraeus | No Mercure in Piraeus turned up in Accor's results or any search. |
Athens International is the only airport for a Piraeus cruise. Our routing puts it about 31 road miles (50 km) from the Terminal A street point, 47 minutes on empty roads. Holland America says 20 miles (32 km) and about an hour, depending on traffic, without saying how it measured. We use our road figure for the distance, since it’s the motorway a car actually drives, and Holland America’s hour for the timing.
Metro Line 3 runs from the airport to Piraeus in about an hour for €9, and the X96 bus runs around the clock for €5.50. A taxi to Piraeus runs on the meter — the airport’s €50 fixed fare covers central Athens only. The Getting There table shows what every hotel publishes; the airport page has the rest.
Tours, tickets and things to do are on Booking.com. Book the day before, not sail day.

On our scoring it's SAVOY hotel Piraeus, which calls the cruise docks walking distance and says every room includes breakfast. Piraeus City Hotel is second, three points behind; it names gates E11 and E12 a 15 to 17 minute walk away and is the only hotel that prices a car to the terminal, €8–10. The Alex Monte Kastella is third.
Because that's how many open hotels publish enough to score. Piraeus has plenty of small hotels known only from directory listings like greeka.com, undated and without a site of their own, and we won't pad the list with places whose open status we can't confirm. Central Athens and the airport fill it out, and they're real options — Line 1 runs from Monastiraki to Piraeus.
Piraeus has three cruise terminals: A (Miaoulis), entered through Gate E11, and B (Themistocles) and C (Alkimos), both through Gate E12, per MSC. Holland America lists Akti Miaouli 10, 185 38 for all three. No line publishes a fixed terminal; MSC says terminal assignments may vary, so your documents name yours. Gates E1 to E10 are ferry gates.
With a daypack, maybe; with suitcases, take a taxi. Piraeus City Hotel puts gates E11 and E12 15 to 17 minutes on foot, and the Savoy calls the cruise docks walking distance. Hotels by the metro, like Mitsis N'U and The Port Square, sit by the ferry gates and say the cruise terminals are 3 km away.
None of the sixteen says so. Holland America says there's no public parking at the pier. Our parking page lists POLISPARK's Agios Nikolaos packages at €35 for 3 days and €60 for 7, as sold in September 2026; its site showed no prices on October 3, so phone first.
Piraeus for the shortest morning: the port hotels are about 0.4 to 1.4 road miles from the Terminal A street point by our routing. Athens for an evening at the Acropolis — about 7 to 8 road miles, roughly 13 to 17 minutes on clear roads, or Line 1 from Monastiraki to Piraeus station, then a taxi.
None of our sixteen runs a free one. From ATH, Metro Line 3 runs to Piraeus in about an hour for €9, the X96 bus around the clock for €5.50, and a taxi runs on the meter — the airport's fixed fares cover central Athens, not Piraeus.
Yes — the climate resilience fee, charged per room per night by star category: from April to October €2 (about US$2) for 1–2 stars, €5 (about US$6) for 3, €10 for 4 and €15 (about US$17) for 5; from November to March €0.50 (about US$1), €1.50 (about US$2), €3 (about US$3) and €4 (about US$4). The amounts are the ones the Greek government set out for Parliament in November 2024, and Law 5177/2025 repeats them; the tax authority, AADE, confirms the fee is charged per room per day. Hotels usually collect it on the spot.
