A “Venice” ticket, a Ravenna pier
Read your booking’s port line, not the cruise title. It decides which airport makes sense.
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity sell it as “Ravenna (Venice)”, NCL as “Venice (Ravenna)”. The ship is at Porto Corsini all the same.
If you’ve flown into Venice expecting a short taxi to the ship, this page is the correction — it’s a drive of two and a half hours, give or take.
Our Venice-side page sorts out which lines use Trieste, Ravenna or Chioggia, and times the run from Piazzale Roma.
This one starts at the airport and ends at the Ravenna pier — the rental desks, the drop-off and the fee in between.
Marco Polo to Porto Corsini by the RA8 and the SS309
The lines agree on the route and roughly on the time. Our routing agrees with them.
From Marco Polo: the Raccordo Marco Polo, A57, A13 and RA8 toward Comacchio, then the SS309 south, about 2.5 to 3 hours, in Royal Caribbean’s words.
Our routing makes it about 88.3 miles (142.0 km) and 2 hr 32 min without traffic, which sits right inside that range.
Celebrity: Porto Corsini is “approximately two hours and 30 minutes south of Venice and only one hour from” Bologna. Princess: Venice Marco Polo is “roughly over two hours north by car”, and Princess offers airport transfers from there, price not shown.
Three lines, three phrasings, one answer — allow at least two and a half hours, plus time at the rental counter.
The road passes Comacchio. If the ship sails late, the lagoon town is a natural stop — the day-drives page covers it.
Leave Venice by mid-morning for an afternoon sailing, not after lunch.
Collecting the car at Marco Polo, level 3 of P1
Marco Polo’s rental hall is a covered walk from arrivals, in the multi-storey car park.
Avis at Marco Polo prints 8 AM to midnight every day and a 24-hour drop-off; the counters sit on level 3 of the P1 car park.
Marco Polo’s list names Sicily By Car, Autovia, Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Locauto, Sixt, Italy Car Rent and Noleggiare. Of those, only Avis printed hours we could read, so it’s the desk we can vouch for.
Its Venice airport page said “just $12/day”, averaging about $23, also with a bare $ sign, a little cheaper on paper than Bologna’s roughly $37.
The cheaper headline doesn’t make it the cheaper trip — the one-way charge below can swallow the difference.
Desks in Venice itself, Piazzale Roma and Mestre, are on the Venice rental page. From Piazzale Roma the drive south is about 4.5 miles shorter, by our Venice routing.
Pricing a Venice car you leave in Ravenna
Two of you, collecting at Marco Polo and leaving the car in Ravenna. Type the one-way charge your quote shows.
The rental, line by line
A sum in euros, not a quote. The €33 a day is our assumption; Marco Polo averaged about $23 on Discover Cars on Oct 3, 2026, but a one-way pushes the real price up. Fuel is 88 miles at 30 mpg and €7.77 a US gallon, our conversion of Italy’s €2.052 petrol average. We assume 22% VAT is included and start the airport line at 0%. The drop box starts empty: no brand prints a one-way fee we’d call current. Child seats and the A13 and A14 tolls aren’t in it.
Before any one-way charge, that car comes to about €56 (about US$65), our arithmetic — around €23 of it fuel.
The same May 2018 Avis Budget Italia tariff lists an intercity one-way charge of €74.50 to €114.70 by car group, and €15.96 to €24.50 within one city; that’s eight years old, so treat it as a sign the fee exists, not a price.
If those old figures still held, the trip would land somewhere between €130 and €170 — an illustration of scale and nothing more.
Hertz Italy’s terms say one-way fees “may apply”, with no amount. Maggiore’s own conditions name a “supplemento per il viaggio a lasciare”, a drop-off supplement, without a figure.
So search with Ravenna as the drop-off and let the total show the fee. Our one-way guide explains how brands build it.
Where a Venice car can actually be left near the ship
A one-way to Ravenna only works if somebody there will take the car back.
No brand page we read mentions delivering a car to the Ravenna cruise terminal or collecting one there, and Royal Caribbean says there’s no long-term parking at the port.
Enterprise in Ravenna is the drop-off we could time: Via Achille Grandi 27, about 5.0 miles from the terminal.
Its listed weekday hours are 2 to 6 PM, with weekend mornings, and it takes no returns outside them.
For a one-way from Venice, that suits a weekday afternoon arrival — and very little else.
Maggiore names an agency on Via Adria without hours. Hertz, Avis, Europcar and Sixt gave us no Ravenna office we could use — Sixt’s directory jumps from Bologna to Rimini.
From the Enterprise desk you still need a ride out to Porto Corsini; the shared transfer and bus 90 are priced on the decision page. Book the drop-off hour before you book the car.
Venice to Porto Corsini without driving
Ask your line first. It may already sell the ride you’re about to drive.
Royal Caribbean times Marco Polo at “3 hours by bus and 2 hours and 30 minutes by car”, so the coach costs you about half an hour against driving.
Princess offers airport transfers from Marco Polo, without a price on the page we read.
Cruise Critic posters in 2023 reported a Royal Caribbean coach between the port and Venice’s Tronchetto for about $65, taking 2.5 to 3 hours — forum reports, not a line-published price.
Viator listed a private transfer from Marco Polo to Ravenna from $354, in dollars, without saying whether that’s per car.
We couldn’t read a Venice–Ravenna train fare, so the calculator leaves that row for you.
For two people with no plans on the way, the line’s coach is the easy answer — for a family stopping at Comacchio, the car is.
Booking the Marco Polo one-way
Search Marco Polo to Ravenna, not a round trip, so the one-way charge sits inside the price you compare.
Check the Ravenna desk’s hours against your arrival before you click. Our Discover Cars review walks through deposits and the coverage add-on. Every dollar figure here rests on the ECB’s Oct 2, 2026 rate, roughly $1.12 to the euro — not the rate your card will charge.
