Five questions Brisbane cruisers ask first
Pick the one that's keeping you up. Each card jumps to the answer.
Lines confirmed for 2026-27
Two named so far, each on its own line’s page. We list nothing we couldn’t confirm.
Jump to lines →Airport to ship, 12 km
Taxi, rideshare, a pre-booked shuttle or your own car. Airtrain stops in the city.
Jump to getting here →Bags, set-down and timing
No lockers, no published boarding times, and one baggage drop by the entrance.
Jump to boarding day →Parking at the terminal
Wilson prepaid parking from A$31 (about US$20) a day, on ship days only, plus an off-site lot.
See parking →Passports and biosecurity
What we confirmed for Americans, and what we couldn’t.
Jump to entry rules →Why your ship docks out at Luggage Point
Your ship doesn’t dock in the city. The Brisbane International Cruise Terminal sits at 1 Cruise Terminal Drive in Pinkenba, also known as Luggage Point, and it’s there on purpose.
The Port of Brisbane says the site takes larger ships, gives them deep water and room to turn, and avoids the bridge height limits upstream. Good for the ships, not for your commute.
From Brisbane Airport it's 12 km (7.5 miles), about 15 minutes by road — from the CBD it's 21 km (13 miles), about 30 minutes. Both figures come from the port's own Getting Here page.
No public transport serves the terminal — no train, no bus, no ferry.
The port's FAQs say no shuttle buses run between the terminal and the airport or the CBD, and there's no car rental on site. If you've read about a free airport shuttle, that's not what the port says.
The terminal only operates on cruise ship days — so there's no turning up the afternoon before.
Everything else about a Brisbane sailing day follows from the distance.
This is a transfer problem, not a sightseeing one, so solve the transfer first and book the flights around it.
If a hotel or shuttle page tells you something different, check it against the port’s own page before you plan around it.
Two lines with a Brisbane sailing on their own pages
Brisbane’s season is long and the confirmed 2026-27 list is short. We name a line only when its own page shows a Brisbane sailing.
This is what the lines’ own pages showed us, read the same day. Your boarding document names your terminal and overrides this table.
| Line | Terminal | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Royal Caribbean (Quantum of the Seas) | Not named on the line’s page | 8-night South Pacific from Brisbane, sailing October 22, 2026, per the line’s own itinerary page. |
| Carnival Cruise Line (Carnival Luminosa) | 1 Cruise Terminal Drive, per Carnival’s Brisbane port page | Carnival’s 2026-27 Brisbane page names Luminosa and 3-day getaways. It doesn’t print the months. |
Other lines may sail from Brisbane this season. We couldn’t confirm any from a line’s own page, so we don’t list them.
Sources: the lines’ own itinerary and port pages, October 6, 2026. Your own boarding document settles which terminal and which sailing.
For scale, the Port of Brisbane counted 101 ship calls between October 1, 2025 and March 30, 2026 — five of them maiden calls.
Those calls moved about 519,300 passengers, and December was the busiest month at 22.
Carnival Australia is the port's Foundation Partner — but the port hasn't published a 2026-27 call count in anything we read.
Treat our list as a floor, not a ceiling.
Shore days have their own pages, so start with our Brisbane port page and the shore excursion guide.
The address to give your driver, and the pin to ignore
Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd runs the terminal, at 1 Cruise Terminal Drive in Pinkenba — and your GPS may not know that address yet.
The port's advice is to head for Marine Road, which becomes Cruise Terminal Drive. The site sits near the Gateway Motorway and Kingsford Smith Drive.
Portside Wharf is not your terminal.
Older guides name Portside Wharf in Hamilton. The Port of Brisbane's pages don't, and we couldn't find one that says when its last cruise call was.
One transfer operator still lists it as a main terminal, and we haven't confirmed its status with the port.
So go by the address on your boarding document, not the pin.
| Detail | What the port says |
|---|---|
| Address | 1 Cruise Terminal Drive, Pinkenba (Luggage Point), reached via Marine Road |
| From the airport | 12 km (7.5 miles), about 15 minutes |
| From the CBD | 21 km (13 miles), about 30 minutes |
| Public transport | None |
| Baggage drop | In the plaza near the main entrance |
| Lockers | None |
| Car rental on site | None |
| Taxi rank and rideshare | About 120 m from the entrance, along an undercover walkway |
| Opens | Cruise ship days only |
The port documents accessibility in detail, and its first instruction is to contact your cruise line before you arrive. The lines supply a limited number of wheelchairs.
Inside, there are accessible bathrooms and a parent room on each floor, travelators and lifts, and accessible check-in counters with a hearing loop, plus an assistance-animal toileting area near the baggage drop.
Accessible bays exist in all three car parks, the taxi rank and the pick-up area — though Wilson's need a promo code from its customer care team, so ask before the day.
Terminal details are from the Port of Brisbane’s Getting Here, FAQ and accessibility pages, read October 6, 2026.
No train, no bus: from Brisbane Airport to the ship
Most Americans arrive through Brisbane Airport (BNE), and the terminal is close to it — but nothing public connects the two.
It's a taxi ride, not a train ride, and a rideshare, a pre-booked shuttle or your own car do the same job.
Here's how they compare on what we could source, with the gaps marked.
| Option | How it works | Cost and caveats |
|---|---|---|
| Taxi from BNE | Ranks outside both terminals, open 24 hours. | About A$42 to A$45 (about US$30) by our arithmetic: the Queensland meter tariff over 12.1 km, plus the A$4.86 (about US$3) airport fee. A booked taxi isn’t capped like a rank fare. |
| Rideshare from BNE | Pick-up on International Level 2 behind The Coffee Club, or the central road at Domestic. | The A$4.86 (about US$3) airport fee applies. We have no fare to print. |
| Con-x-ion shuttle | Door-to-door service. International pick-up is at the Visitor Information desk. | Its page puts the trip at under an hour. An undated page lists the airport run from A$25 (about US$17); we couldn’t confirm it for 2026-27. |
| Airtrain to the city | Runs from the airport to Brisbane City stations, about 20 minutes. It doesn’t go to the terminal. | A$23.30 (about US$16) an adult since April 27, 2026; ages 14 and under free. Airtrain’s own site also advertises promotional fares. |
| Taxi from the CBD | Metered from a city hotel, about 19 to 21 km. | About A$57 to A$64 (about US$40 to US$45) by our arithmetic, weekday daytime versus other times. Tolls come on top. |
Dollar figures use the European Central Bank reference rates of Oct 6, 2026 (about 70 US cents to the Australian dollar) — your card’s rate will differ.
At the terminal. The taxi rank and rideshare zone each sit about 120 m from the entrance, down an undercover walkway. The port lists 13Cabs on 13 22 27 and Black & White Cabs on 133 222.
Don't book a rideshare until you've walked out of the building — the port says you must be ready at the pick-up when the driver arrives.
Dropping someone off. A passenger set-down area sits in front of the building with a two-minute limit, and the driver stays with the vehicle.
Vehicles over 6.5 m, or towing a trailer, use the Coach and Shuttle Area with prior permission.
The shuttle's fine print. Con-x-ion's page says to be at your stop 10 minutes before departure, inside a 20-minute pick-up window, and the driver can't wait for latecomers.
Two phone numbers appear for the operator across the port's page and its own — so book on its website, not by phone.
Driving. Queensland traffic keeps left, which the road rules we read assume rather than state. You reach the terminal via Marine Road.
Wilson Parking runs the car parks and you need to prepay online — the parking page has every price we could source.
Brisbane's toll roads are free-flow, with no booths — you pay through Linkt (13 33 31) within three days of travel. Queensland's page also says to settle toll arrangements with your rental company before you drive.
Prices from July 1, 2026 for a car include A$6.77 (about US$5) on the Clem7, A$4.22 (about US$3) on the Go Between Bridge and A$7.30 (about US$5) on Legacy Way, GST included.
We print no AirportlinkM7 figure, since two Linkt pages give prices that don't match. We also couldn't confirm whether any toll road sits on the airport-to-terminal run.
Check your route in a maps app with tolls switched on before you leave.
Airport and rail details are from Brisbane Airport’s transport page and Translink, read October 6, 2026. Taxi figures use the Queensland maximum fare tariff in force from July 1, 2026.
No lockers, no published times: boarding day at Pinkenba
The terminal doesn't publish an arrival window. The Port of Brisbane says each cruise line runs its own embarkation process, so the time on your boarding document is the one that counts, not ours.
Carnival's port page gives no boarding times, and the port's public schedule still showed 2023 entries when we read it — no guide to this season's turnaround pattern.
What you can plan around is the layout, not the clock.
Drop passengers at the set-down area first, then bags at the baggage drop by the main entrance, then park — Park N Cruise's own page gives the same order.
There are no storage lockers. Anything you can't carry through the door has nowhere to wait.
Ask your line for the bag-drop window and the check-in cutoff in writing. The terminal won't have them.
What Americans sort before Brisbane: passport, ETA, biosecurity
US citizens need a passport plus a visa or travel authority for Australia.
Start there.
The Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) allows stays of up to three months each time, with as many visits as you like inside 12 months, per the Home Affairs page.
That's where our confirmed list ends. We couldn't read the ETA fee, the application steps or any cruise-specific rule — Home Affairs' FAQ blocked our reader.
Treat all three as not confirmed. Check the official page before you book flights.
Biosecurity. Australia still uses the Incoming Passenger Card, and cruise passengers get theirs before arrival, per the Department of Agriculture.
You declare food, animal products and plant material, wooden articles included, and an infringement notice can run to A$6,260 (about US$4,370).
Screening happens at cruise terminals too, with X-ray, detector dogs and inspection, so you'll meet it coming off the ship, not only when you fly in.
Allowances. Tourism Australia's US page lists 2.25 litres of alcohol and 25 cigarettes per adult. It says to declare goods worth over A$900 (about US$630) per adult or A$450 (about US$310) per child, and A$10,000 (about US$6,980) or more in cash.
That's a tourism site, not Border Force, so confirm with Border Force before you pack a gift.
Money. Everything is priced in Australian dollars, not US ones.
Our port page says a tap of a card or phone works almost everywhere, though we haven't re-checked that this month. Taxi fares add tolls and airport fees to the meter.
Sort the paperwork first. Everything else on this page assumes you already have it.
An hour to spare in the city? Do the sums first
Brisbane's city is easy once you're in it — the terminal is the hard part.
The road run to the city is about 30 minutes — so a round trip eats an hour before you've seen anything.
A metered taxi from the city back to the ship is about A$57 to A$64 (about US$40 to US$45) by our arithmetic, and Airtrain only covers the airport-to-city leg at A$23.30 (about US$16) an adult.
Bags make it worse. The terminal has no lockers, and we haven't sourced a left-luggage option in the city.
Smarte Carte sells a luggage transfer between the cruise terminal and Skygate Shopping Centre at the airport, booked in advance. Its page didn't show a price, and it doesn't mention hotel delivery.
Our Brisbane port page covers what's worth a short city visit, and a long one belongs on a day you aren't sailing.
Short window? Stay near the airport and keep your bags with you.
The one hotel that publishes a ride to the ship
Because the terminal only opens on ship days, you'll sleep somewhere else first, and we've gone through the hotels for the night before a Brisbane cruise on what each one publishes.
One stands out for a reason that matters here. The Kingsford is the only hotel in our research that publishes a ride to the terminal.
| Hotel | Where | One thing to know |
|---|---|---|
| The Kingsford, an Ascend Collection Hotel | 510 Kingsford Smith Drive, Hamilton | Choice Hotels says all bookings include a free shuttle to the cruise terminal, terms apply. It prints no times or booking steps, so ask before you book. |
| Pullman Brisbane Airport | 2 Dryandra Road, airport | A scheduled shuttle to both airport terminals costs A$9 (about US$6) a person, per the hotel. It publishes no ride to the cruise terminal. |
| Novotel Brisbane Airport | 6-8 The Circuit, airport | A scheduled loop to both airport terminals costs A$9 (about US$6) a person, per the hotel. No cruise-terminal ride is stated. |
| ibis Brisbane Airport | 2 Dryandra Road, airport | A 5-minute walk to the domestic terminal. The airport’s page lists an A$8 (about US$6) shuttle from 4 am to 9 am; no cruise-terminal ride is stated. |
Hotels print their shuttle prices with a plain dollar sign — we read them as Australian dollars.
One motel's site still says it's five minutes from the Portside overseas cruise terminal — a name the Port of Brisbane's pages don't use for the cruise terminal. Check any hotel's distance claim against 1 Cruise Terminal Drive.
For a grander night, see the splurge list — if you're flying in, the airport page compares the routes to the ship.
Wilson’s three lots and the off-site option
You can park at the terminal, and you must prepay. Wilson runs three lots there, with one-day rates from A$31 (about US$20) to A$46 (about US$30), checked 6 Oct 2026.
The lots open on ship days only, and prepaying doesn't reserve a space, per all three of Wilson's pages.
An off-site lot, Park N Cruise, starts at A$40 (about US$30) a day and runs a shuttle. Read the parking page before you commit to either.
Where should I park for a Brisbane cruise?
Three Wilson lots priced by the day, the off-site Park N Cruise shuttle, and the non-driving alternatives, with what we couldn’t confirm marked as such.

Brisbane transfer questions, answered
Is there public transport to the Brisbane cruise terminal?
No — the Port of Brisbane says the terminal isn't served by public transport, and that no shuttle buses run between the terminal and the airport or the CBD.
That leaves a taxi, a rideshare, a pre-booked transfer or your own car. Airtrain gets you to the city for A$23.30 (about US$16) an adult, not to the ship.
How do I get from Brisbane Airport to the ship, and what does it cost?
The terminal is 12 km (7.5 miles) from the airport, about 15 minutes by road, per the Port of Brisbane. Taxi ranks sit outside both airport terminals, 24 hours a day.
By our arithmetic from the Queensland meter tariff, that run is about A$42 to A$45 (about US$30) with the airport fee. It's our estimate, not a published fare — waiting time and tolls come on top.
Rideshare isn't priced here, and neither is the pre-booked shuttle for 2026-27.
What time do I arrive, and where do my bags go?
The terminal doesn't publish boarding times. The Port of Brisbane says each cruise line runs its own process, so the time on your boarding document is the one that counts.
Bags go to the baggage drop in the plaza near the main entrance — and the terminal has no storage lockers, so don't plan on leaving one there while you do something else.
What do Americans need to enter Australia for a Brisbane cruise?
A passport, plus a visa or travel authority sorted before you fly. The Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) allows stays of up to three months at a time, per the Home Affairs page.
We couldn't confirm the ETA fee, the application steps or any cruise-specific rule, so check the official Home Affairs page before you book flights. Australia also screens for food, plant material and wooden items at its borders, cruise terminals included.
Can I park at the Brisbane cruise terminal, and what does it cost?
Yes — Wilson Parking runs three car parks at the terminal, open on ship days only, and the Port of Brisbane says you must book online in advance.
Prepaid rates for one day run from A$31 (about US$20) to A$46 (about US$30), depending on the lot, checked 6 Oct 2026. Prepaying doesn't reserve a specific space.
The parking page has the full price table.
