What's actually confirmed — and what isn't
Venice's cruise-terminal structure has changed substantially since 2021 (see the full guide). For a sailing that checks in at Venezia Marittima, like MSC's, there are two options on record: VTP's own parking in front of the terminals, and the city garage at Piazzale Roma. The garage prints its prices. VTP's booking form works yours out from the ship and dates, and we couldn't confirm a figure.
One named, general-purpose garage
- Autorimessa Comunale AVM, at Piazzale Roma
- One People Mover stop from Marittima, €1.50
- People Mover access
- Not confirmed as specific to cruise passengers — a general parking option
VTP’s own port parking
- Inside the port area at Marittima, for cruise passengers only, per VTP
- Book and prepay at parcheggi.vtp.it; turn up unbooked and a space isn’t guaranteed
- VTP phone +39 041 2403033/40, Monday to Friday 8 to 17, per MSC
- Marittima only: for Fusina, Chioggia, Ravenna or Trieste, check your line’s departure details
Autorimessa Comunale AVM, at Piazzale Roma
A general-purpose Venice garage, not a cruise-specific one — but the one with prices we could read.
- At Piazzale Roma, Santa Croce 496, one People Mover stop from Marittima (€1.50 a ride)
- €35 per 24 hours for cars up to 2.20 m; €15 for an evening, 17:00 to 05:00
- Open 24/7, 1,906 spaces; book online through Venezia Unica by midnight the day before
- A city garage, not a cruise service — there’s no published weekly cruise rate, so price your days at €35 each
Source: actv.avmspa.it (Autorimessa Comunale), read October 3, 2026. Our earlier €20 a day came from a general guide and is out of date. VTP’s parking FAQ, parcheggi.vtp.it, read October 4, 2026; its price page wouldn’t load.
Marghera, Fusina and the ports that aren’t Venice
MSC's ships board at Marghera, but you don't drive there: MSC checks you in and takes your bags at Venezia Marittima, then ferries you across, per MSC. So the parking above is the parking for an MSC sailing.
Viking sails from Chioggia, and Regent and Seabourn list Fusina; we found no published parking for either berth, so ask the line. Celebrity and Royal Caribbean sail from Ravenna, and Holland America, Norwegian and Princess from Trieste — a different port and a different car park, not a Venice one.
Who should pick what
| Traveler | Likely best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sailing MSC (check-in at Marittima, boarding at Marghera) | VTP port parking, or AVM at Piazzale Roma | VTP’s lot is inside the port at Marittima, priced by your ship and dates when you book; AVM is €35 per 24 hours, one People Mover stop away. |
| Sailing from Fusina or Chioggia | Ask your line | Neither berth publishes parking we could find — don’t assume the Piazzale Roma garage suits it. |
| Sailing “from Venice” out of Ravenna or Trieste | Parking at that port | Ravenna is about 2 hrs 30 min south, per Celebrity; Trieste about 150 km from Marco Polo, per Holland America. |
| Unsure which terminal your sailing uses | Check the full guide's Terminals section first | Venice's terminal structure varies by line, season, and even city — confirm before planning parking at all. |
Staying the night before? None of the twenty hotels we ranked sells a priced park-and-cruise deal on its own site. The airport hotels come closest, and Mestre’s hotels charge by the night. What four of them publish:
| Hotel | Overnight parking | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Courtyard Venice Airport | €20 a day on site, per Marriott | Marriott lists long-term parking too, without terms — ask before you count on it for a week. |
| Antony Hotel | Free during your stay | A supplement for parking before or after it, per the hotel; the price isn’t printed. |
| Hotel Plaza | €14 for 24 hours at Star Parking | Not bookable and subject to availability, per the hotel. |
| Hilton Garden Inn San Giuliano | €10 a day, covered | EV charging on site, per Hilton. |
More: the splurge list and Marco Polo or Treviso to the ship.

Parking FAQ
Is there parking right at Venice's cruise terminals?
Yes, for Marittima sailings. VTP, the terminal operator, runs parking for cruise passengers inside the port area; you book and prepay at parcheggi.vtp.it, and the form works out the fare from your ship and dates. We couldn't confirm a price, so get yours there. A Fusina, Chioggia, Trieste or Ravenna sailing has its own arrangements, so check your line's. The city's garage at Piazzale Roma is one People Mover stop away.
Which parking options are on record?
Two, for a Marittima sailing. VTP's own parking inside the port, for cruise passengers, booked online at a fare worked out from your ship and dates; we couldn't confirm the price. The other is the city's Autorimessa Comunale (AVM) at Piazzale Roma: €35 per 24 hours for cars up to 2.20 m, €15 for an evening from 17:00 to 05:00, open around the clock with 1,906 spaces, per AVM on October 3, 2026. The €20 a day we printed before was a general guide's figure and is out of date.
Where do I park for an MSC cruise that boards at Marghera?
MSC checks you in and takes your bags at the Venice Cruise Terminal in Venezia Marittima, then ferries you to the ship at Marghera, per MSC — so you drive to Marittima, not Marghera. Park with VTP or at Piazzale Roma. If your line sails from Ravenna or Trieste, none of this applies; see the full guide.
Is it worth driving to Venice at all, given the parking uncertainty?
For many travelers, no — Venice's train and airport connections are well developed, and given how much of this port's structure is in flux, arriving without a car removes one more variable. See the full guide's Getting Here section for the airport route.
