In a nutshell
Noordam completed Vista Class in 2006, two years behind Westerdam, and has built her standing on maps rather than hardware — port-dense European and international seasons, worked by a hull small enough to tie up in the middle of a city rather than at an industrial quay an hour outside it. She is confirmed for Evolution with no date published.
Is Noordam right for your map?
One question about the map, not about the ship.
Why Noordam ranges further
Noordam closed out Vista Class in 2006, four years after Zuiderdam opened it, inheriting the accumulated small corrections of three earlier builds. The specifications barely moved — about 82,000 tons, about 1,900 guests — but the assignments did. She has become the sister the line reaches for when the season is somewhere else entirely.
The advantage is dull to describe and obvious to experience. A ship this size berths where the mega-ships cannot: in the working heart of a port rather than at a container terminal with a shuttle bus attached. On a port-dense itinerary that difference compounds every single day, and it is worth more than any venue the newer ships carry.
She also puts the line's own argument under the most strain, which is useful. If the destination genuinely is the product, then the ship handing you the longest list of places for your fortnight is doing the most work — even though she carries two specialty restaurants, no Grand Dutch Café, and no announced date for the refit that would change either of those things.
Noordam is the cleanest test of the thesis in this class. Nothing aboard her is fresher than her sisters by more than four years. What she offers is a longer list of places, and the whole argument is that this was what you were buying.
Sleeping aboard the youngest sister
The Vista template at its most developed — four years of small refinements after the first hull went into the water.
Cabin categories
Accommodation follows the class pattern of a verandah-weighted mix and restrained interiors, built last and therefore carrying whatever the yard had learned from Zuiderdam, Oosterdam and Westerdam.
The space arithmetic is identical across all four sisters and stays the class's quietest advantage: roughly 43 gross tons per guest, against about 37.5 aboard the Pinnacle-class flagships.
The premium end
Neptune Suites and the concierge Neptune Lounge sit at the top of the ship as built. The Vista Suites and Bridgeview Suites announced under Evolution belong to Oosterdam from autumn 2027, and nothing comparable has been confirmed for this hull.
On a port-intensive itinerary the value of a suite shifts sideways: the Lounge earns its keep as somewhere to untangle a long day, rather than as somewhere to spend one.
Dinner, and the nightlife after it
Two specialty rooms, and a week in which dinner competes with a city outside the window.
Dining rooms
The Pinnacle Grill and Canaletto make up the specialty list, alongside the Dining Room, the Lido Market and the Dive-In. On a port-dense season the more useful question is what time the Lido closes, not how many restaurants there are.
Neither Tamarind nor the Grand Dutch Café is fitted here. The café forms part of the Evolution package, published so far for Oosterdam alone and from autumn 2027.
Live performance
Live music centers on the Rolling Stone Lounge and Billboard Onboard — a lighter arrangement than the flagships' Music Walk, staffed by the same sort of working musicians.
The 2025 Entertainment Evolution program reaches every ship in the fleet, and its regional-soloist rotation is the element that suits her best: the set list changes as the map does.
The range she covers
Noordam's durable habit is the wide-ranging season — port-dense European itineraries and longer international routings rather than a single home region worked year after year. Holland America publishes deployments season by season and they do move, so check the specific sailing before assuming where she will be.

The unvarnished version
Her strong suits
- The youngest hull in Vista Class, completed in 2006
- Port-dense international seasons — more places per fortnight than her sisters typically offer
- Berths in city centers that the largest ships cannot physically use
- About 43 gross tons of ship per guest, the most generous ratio in the fleet
Her weak spots
- No published Evolution date — the 76 new rooms belong to Oosterdam alone so far
- Two specialty restaurants, and no Grand Dutch Café aboard
- Deployments move season to season, so the wide-ranging reputation is a pattern rather than a promise
- For Alaska specifically, Westerdam's fourteen-hour Skagway call makes the better argument
Frequent queries
Where does Noordam sail?
Her durable pattern is the port-dense international season — European itineraries and longer international routings rather than one home region worked repeatedly. Holland America publishes deployments season by season and they change, so confirm the map for your own sailing.
Is Noordam a new ship?
No. She was delivered in 2006, which makes her the youngest of the four Vista sisters and nothing more than that. The Pinnacle-class ships are considerably more modern; what Noordam offers instead is range, space per guest and a softer fare.
Which Vista sister should I choose over Noordam?
Westerdam if your week is Alaska, on the strength of a fourteen-hour Skagway call in the published July 2026 schedule. Oosterdam if you can sail after autumn 2027 and want the rebuilt accommodation. Zuiderdam if the fare is the binding constraint.
Does Noordam get the Evolution refit?
She is confirmed as one of the six ships in the program, but no date has been announced. Oosterdam leads in autumn 2027 and the line has not published a schedule for the rest.
What are Noordam's tonnage and guest capacity?
About 82,000 gross tons and roughly 1,900 guests at double occupancy — the same figures as the other three Vista ships, since the class specification barely moved across four builds.
