The island’s one major-brand office, and the nearest Avis and Budget, as each describes itself.
We found no rental counter at any of the four terminals, and no company that takes cars back there. The Port of Galveston’s arrival guide covers shuttles, hotel shuttles and rideshare, not rentals.
So Enterprise at 5919 Broadway is the island’s one major-brand office, as far as we could find, and it is candid about the gap.
It says it “proudly serves the Galveston Cruise Port” — then, in the next breath, that it’s “unable to offer pick-up and drop-off services to and from the port.”
The last 3 miles are on you — by the port’s account, Uber and Lyft have signed pickup and drop-off areas at the terminals, so that leg is an app away.
Every other major-brand office we found sits on the mainland.
Besides the Avis and Budget counter in La Marque, Enterprise has Texas City (weekdays 7:30 to 6, Saturday 9 to noon, closed Sunday) and League City. Hertz has League City too (closed Sunday), and Avis and Budget have Bay Area Boulevard near NASA — none of their pages mentions the cruise port.
